Coffee Cup with Sign

Good afternoon ALAH Families,

We made it!  Which is what I probably say at the end of every school year, but what a whirlwind the last nine weeks have been with the constant changes. We have been dealt a hand like no other time. We have had to reinvent how we educate our students in a world that is unknown. And just when we made a plan and communicated it with all of you, the rules changed and we started all over.  It has been a vicious circle.

Please encourage your student to remember the parts of the 2019-2020 school year that don’t involve the pandemic.  Our Back to School Cook-out, cheering on the Knights at football, volleyball, basketball, our Homecoming activities, studying for exams, our Cookie Party, all of the school spirit activities, assemblies, concerts, are just a few of the highlights that have created so many memories and don’t  have anything to do with COVID-19.  Hopefully, your student will be able to recollect these memories.

I know everyone is anxiously awaiting to see what August will bring. We are hopeful that we will start the school year like every other August. But as we wait for guidance from the Illinois State Board of Education and our local health departments, please know that we will adjust and figure it out.  Our goal will not change, our job is to educate every student.  And we will not stop until we figure out the best way to provide the best education for every student in our district.  We are blessed to live and work in communities where the Board of Education, the administration, faculty and staff, students, families and communities are all working together to do what is best for our students.

With all of that being said, a special congratulations to the parents of our seniors and our seniors!  The Class of 2020 will be missed!  Watch our Virtual Graduation tonight on www.theroundtable.tv  at 7 p.m.  We are looking forward to the debut!

I would also like to give a special congratulations to Mrs. Flavin, who is retiring this year.  She has been teaching Spanish for CUSD #305 for 33 years.  She has a passion for education and has been an integral part of our school. Congratulations and we wish her the best in her retirement.

Please watch your email and encourage your student to check their email periodically. Report cards are getting mailed out today.

Have a great summer.
