ALAH Weekend Update

Good morning Knight Families:

Well, we made it through the first week of our in-person and remote learning!  It was so good to have our students (in-person and remotely) back to the routines of school. Even with all of our new guidelines and changes, so much stayed the same.  Teachers teaching and students learning … it felt so good!

We know the new rules aren’t much fun, but we are also embracing the fact that by following the rules, it makes a difference in keeping us all safer.

Every parent/guardian should be very proud of their student regarding our mask rules!  The students did great!  Thank them and tell them to keep up the great work.

We had all but 30 students certify before school each day this week.  We thank you for your partnership with us in making this happen. We know it is a shift in routines and sometimes adding one little thing to our morning routines, may tip the proverbial cart!  Thank you for figuring out how to do this.  If you need help with the app or would prefer to sign off on the paper each morning, just call the office at 543-2146.  We are happy to help you.  Mr. Seal and I are certifying students that have not done so before they enter the building.

And one final note regarding our COVID policies, I’m attaching the chart from the Illinois Department of Health and Illinois State Board of Education showing the rules we are required to follow if your student has a symptom.  We know all of this is challenging, confusing and frustrating.  We appreciate your patience as we all work through this together.        I would also like to introduce you to Mr. Seal, our new assistant principal and athletic director.  Mr. Seal has over 20 years of teaching experience and has coached nearly every sport!  His wife is also in education and has joined the Lovington Grade School team.  He comes to us from Mahomet-Seymour High School and is a great addition to our high school. Mr. Seal also brings his daughter, a freshman and his son a sophomore.  Please help welcome their family to our district!

Again, thank you for all your support and work on your end at home. We also appreciate your grace as we all move through the changes and new expectations.  Partnering with parents and families like you, helps to make us a great school and district!  Please call or email with any questions or concerns.  We are looking forward to Monday and another good week.
