Good afternoon Knight Families:

We had a fun day today with all of the students that dressed up for our costume day!  We saw Rockie, Justice Ginsberg, Fred Flinstone, a fork in the road, Manderalla, a unicorn, Ace Ventura, Carol Baskin, a banana, a pirate, Harley Quinn, a Ghost Buster, a smarty pants, Buddy the Elf, several Harry Potter characters, a train engineer  and so many more.  Even without being able to have our traditional contest, it was a fun way to end the month and we thank the student council for planning it.

On Monday, November 2nd from 5 to 6 p.m. ALL parents of Seniors are invited to join the virtual meeting for  FAFSA Completion Night.  This is NOT a presentation. Parents are able to just join at any time and ask questions.  Remember, the FASFA completion is a new state requirement for every senior’s parent to complete. Click here on Nov. 2nd to attend FAFSA Completion Night.

Don’t forget .. there is NO SCHOOL on Tuesday, November 3, Election Day.

Mrs. Hart will be hosting two College Application Workshops after school next week. They will be in the cafeteria on Wednesday and Thursday from 1:20 - 3:00.  This is open to any senior and to receive help with their college applications.  Students may come in for all or part of the time.  These workshops are designed to give a student the extra push to start an application, a quiet spot to keep working on them or an extra set of eyes on it!  Students should bring their social security number and Chromebooks.  Snacks provided.

Do you happen to listen to 101.3 WMCI or 104.3, the Party?  If yes, our Leadership Skills class recorded the Pledge of Allegiance for them.  It was aired earlier today on 104.3 The Party and will air on 101.3 WMCI on Friday, November 6th between 11:52 and 12:04!

We are planning a different kind of day for Veteran’s Day this year. It won’t be our traditional luncheon or program, but we will be participating in a variety of activities for our Veterans.  We are working with the VA Hospital in Danville as well as a few projects for our local veterans.  We will be posting many of our activities through videos and pictures since we cannot welcome visitors into our building.  If you would like to help us out, below is a list of donation items that we are looking for to help with the care packages we are preparing. We were excited to announce the September Student of the Month.  Brady Moore, sophomore, received this honor yesterday.  Our Student of the Month is a program sponsored by our National Honor Society who partners with the Arthur Rotary Club giving us the opportunity to recognize an outstanding student each month.  Students are nominated by teachers and exemplify outstanding participation, organization, dependability, an attitude of improvement and consistent best effort.  This program has been in place for more than 30 years in partnership with Rotary.  Students receive a prize package and a letter of reference from the group.  In non-covid years, students join the Rotary Club for lunch with their family.  This year they are hoping to host a dinner for all students of the month at the end of the year.  Congratulations, Brady!

Tonight we are celebrating our senior band members at our Knight of the Living Dead Performance.  We are excited to be able to have the families of our seniors present and to share it live on  The Round Table.  We hope you will join us at 6 p.m.  Stay tuned  next week as we have a few exciting announcements planned!  We are looking forward to another great week at ALAH!
