Hello Knight Family:

Thank goodness the heat and humidity have broken and we have been able to go back to our regular schedules, getting back into our school routines.

We had over 20 students travel to the Farm Progress Show in Decatur on Thursday! This trip provided a great opportunity for our ag students to see the latest developments in the ag world. I believe there may have been a record set for the most free hats brought home!

Tonight we are hosting our first home football game and cannot wait to hear the cheerleaders cheering, our band performing and of course looking for that win from the Knights!  From 4 to 7 we are hosting the first ever Knights Fest! We will have inflatables, food, music, games and prizes. All money raised will go to support our athletics. Don’t forget to swing by the concession stand for a famous hamburger and a bag of FFA popcorn!

I know there is a lot of buzz about our Homecoming traditions and activities.  Are we building floats, having a parade, having a dance?   Know that we are planning and hopeful that we can have our traditional activities that surround Homecoming.  When we have a more accurate idea of what we can really do, we promise to tell everyone.

Have you heard about our Shining Knight program?  Each Friday we recognize students who have demonstrated Safety, Responsibility, and Accountability throughout the week.  Faculty and staff nominate students as they have observed these actions.  Students may only be nominated once a semester. Teachers add comments on why they are nominating the Shining Knight which are copied, laminated, and hung on the student’s locker!  Each Shining Knight receives a cup with candy and 2 coupons--1 to get in free to any ALAH event and the other for free popcorn. Their name will be placed on the marquee all week as well as in the case in the Senior hallway. They also get to choose one additional prize: a  pass to go to the head of the lunch line for the week, a reserved parking spot, a $5 gift card to Subway or Jack Flash, or a Knight T-shirt.  Bottom line is it is a fun way for us to recognize our students!

If you haven’t already done so, please take care of your students registration fees! Also check to see your students' food service balance on Skyward. Even though we have free lunch and breakfast your student may be purchasing extra meals or ala carte items like drinks, chips or cookies. You can pay for registration fees and food service online or in the office.
