ALAH Weekend Update

Hello Knight Family:

This morning we utilized our Flex period to talk about the tragic events of September 11, 2001.  If you are like many of us, it is hard to believe it was twenty years ago and that our students today weren’t even born.  It is an important history lesson for our students to learn about, but for many of us, it was a lived event that we watched unfold in front of our eyes.  Today we took advantage of being able to share what that was like for us.  It is a moment in our history that changed everything.  You could have heard a pin drop throughout the entire school during this time.

I want to thank the Knight Shift for singing the National Anthem before the varsity volleyball game last night.  This is the second time this school year that this has happened, with our student section spontaneously singing their hearts out.  Our students continue to represent us well and honor all of those men and women who fight to protect us and keep our freedom.

On Monday during study hall we will be having class meetings.  We are going to start our work on Homecoming activities.  ALL students are required to stay for study hall in order to participate in the class meetings.  There will probably be more class meetings in the coming weeks.

We want to remind all of our students that the District Handbook on page 13 states, “Clothing showing excessive skin and/or undergarments may not be worn at school.”  This includes shirts that show stomachs, most of the shoulders and/or are cut off are not allowed.  If your student needs an extra shirt, we have some in the office as well as a closet of clothes to change into.  If you have any questions, please call my office at 217-543-2146.

We are running the 1:15 p.m. dismissal schedule on Monday and Tuesday due to the predicted heat.  Let’s hope that these will be the final days of that upper 80/90 degrees for the year.

We are looking for a win tonight and all weekend!  Football, volleyball, cross country, golf and soccer!  Let’s go Knights!
