Good morning! As we continue to navigate through this pandemic and as we prepare for the start of the school year, we were all thrown another curveball with the recent change in the return to school criteria. On Wednesday, August 4th the Governor held a press conference where he informed us all that the return to school criteria would be adapted to include a mask mandate for all school districts public and private in the State of Illinois. Soon thereafter, the Illinois Department of Public Health and Illinois State Board of Education followed with their updated document for schools to follow which mirrored the Governor’s mandate that all students regardless of vaccination status must wear a mask while indoors. The process that the Board of Education developed to come to a conclusion included a Special Meeting to hear from our communities and an additional Special Meeting to vote on how we would begin the school year. This decision did not come easy and many factors were considered moving forward. Although some strong opinions vary on this recent mandate, the Arthur CUSD 305 school district will begin the school year in compliance with the recent mandates. The revised plan has been posted to the website and we will continue to monitor the situation and update our students, staff and communities when any future changes are implemented. Thank you and we look forward to another successful school year.

Arthur CUSD305 Libraries are gearing up for summer break. While summer presents an opportunity to relax and enjoy the sunshine, we want our students to continue to find ways to learn while away from the classroom. We have an exciting reading service available through Sora, the student reading app, which provides free 24/7 access to ebooks and audiobooks. Learn more about Sora and its perks for you and our students here: https://meet.soraapp.com/. What better way to engage a student’s mind than through reading? Starting May 5- August 20, 2021, the Sora Sweet Reads program will offer a collection of Juvenile and Young Adult titles that will be prominently displayed in Sora for quick and easy unlimited access. You can explore the title offerings and learn more about the program here: https://resources.overdrive.com/sora-sweet-reads/.

Good evening! We wanted to send a message out in regards to self-certification. We would appreciate our families working with us in making sure that they are certifying children by 7:15 am each morning. We print our reports for our door monitors at that time to be able to check-in students. We do not want to send out an all-call daily because we know many families do certify by this time. Today was our first morning not doing the all-call and we had a large population of students that were not certified by this time. This complicated our student’s arrival and many phone calls had to be made to check students in for safe arrival. We also have a paper version of the daily certification if you would prefer to sign off daily using the paper version. You can print this paper version off our website or have your student ask for a copy. Thank you for your help in this process. We do appreciate it!

Friday, May 1st is School Lunch Hero Day. Over the past 5 weeks, your school cafeteria staff has been working tirelessly making sure your kiddos get fed in what has been uncharted and scary times for us as parents/guardians. In our area districts, we have provided upwards of 10,000 meals a week safely in a 1 or 2 day prep period. While the stay-at-home order has been in place, these people have put their energy into 3rd gear to make sure that no child has to go without. The passion behind that is miraculous and has been amazing to be a part of! Now you ask, what do we need from you and your kiddos? On May 1st, School Lunch Hero Day, have your student post a video simply saying thank you and maybe what the meals have meant to them. Another option would be to take a photo of your child with a drawn picture/kind words to the cafeteria staff as well. What would be even more cute is if they had some type of "superhero" outfit on in the picture or video! Tag @Aramark in your post! These woman and men deserved all the attention and thank you's possible! Please realize just how powerful there dedication has been through all of this! Cold & Flu Season (Important Reminders for Parents/Guardians)~ When your child gets sick, keeping them home from school can help them recover faster. It also helps prevent illnesses from spreading to other children in the school, which is critical to keeping everyone as healthy as possible. Children should be kept at home if they have a temperature at or above 100.4°F. A fever indicates that the body is fighting off infection, which means that your child is vulnerable and likely contagious. Wait at least 24 hours after the fever has come down and stabilized without medication to consider sending your child back to school.
