Hello AHGS Families! I'm the AHGS Principal, Mr. Forman! I am so very humbled and excited to be living and working in such a welcoming and supportive community. My family and I live just north of Atwood on a nearly thirteen acre farm. My wife, Gretchen and I have been married for 21 years and have two kids, Emma (15) and Elijah (13). Emma is a sophomore at Arthur, Lovington, Atwood-Hammond High School and Elijah is a seventh grader here at AHGS. I grew up in Western Illinois in the very small town of Literberry. It currently has about 90 people and is located north of Jacksonville. I went to Jacksonville Schools and then on to college in Lincoln, Illinois at Lincoln Christian University. That's where Gretchen and I met. I earned two bachelor’s degrees, one from Lincoln and one from The University of Illinois at Springfield, and started my work in education in Mt. Zion in 2003-4, student teaching, subbing and covering a maternity leave for my cooperating teacher. My wife and I then moved overseas and spent two years in China working in Education. Upon returning to Illinois, I entered graduate school at the U of I, earning my Master's in Educational Leadership and began teaching the next year in Mahomet. I spent 8 years in Mahomet and left there, as the Instructional Technology Coordinator, to become an elementary school principal in Rantoul at Eastlawn Elementary, where I spent 4 years leading a K-5 school. I have longed to move back to the country and embrace a slower pace of life for myself and my family and this move is just what we needed. I'm overwhelmed by the generosity and kindness we have encountered so far.
