Weekend Update Logo

Good afternoon Knight Families:

Report cards were posted on Skyward Monday. You and your student should be able to see all of your student’s grades, attendance, gpa and class rank.  If you have any questions about the report card or need help accessing it, please contact us in the office.  We are happy to help.

Last night our Knights were able to compete in the first Scholastic Bowl meet of the year.  This is all done virtually which has its advantages. (No long bus rides!)  Our JV is in one room with a coach and our varsity is another room with a coach.  All students are socially distancing and wearing masks.  The moderator is on the screen along with the other teams!  The Varsity went 2 and 1 beating Arcola and Heritage and our JV went one and two!  A great start and it felt good to see our students participating in an extracurricular activity.

Planning has started for our high school spring play. Our plan is to film it and premier it like a television show sometime in April.  We will follow our social distancing and mask wearing guidelines all the way from try-outs through our performances. Our goal is to include as many students as possible.  An informational meeting will be Tuesday at 3 p.m.  This meeting is virtual.  A link to join this meeting will be in the announcements on Tuesday. We hope you will encourage your student to check it out.

Congratulations to our students of the month winners, Max Allen for October, Claire Seal for November, and Michaela Powell for December.  The Student of the Month program is sponsored by ALAH National Honor Society and the Arthur Rotary Club.  The winner each month embodies the highest standards of academic and ethical excellence as recognized by a vote of the faculty. Congratulations on their hard work!

I am in the process of creating a Principal’s Advisory Council for parents.  We will look at things like our school handbook, suggestions/concerns that would apply to our school and what might be happening here in the future. An example would be incorporating blended learning or new mandates from the state, etc.  This would be a monthly meeting through the end of the school year.  We will meet virtually until our mandate of no visitors in the building is lifted.  If you are interested in joining me for these conversations, please let me know.

We have a three day weekend coming up!  Enjoy the holiday on Monday, January 18 as we observe Martin Luther King Jr. Day.

Have a great weekend! #GoKnights
