ALAH Weekend Update Logo

Good evening Knight Families:

Last week the decision was made to extend our school day.  We will be adding 30 minutes to our day, moving the high school dismissal time to 1:47 p.m.  This will begin on Monday, March 1st.  We are excited to be able to spend a few more minutes with our students, whether they are in person or remote.  Office hours for faculty will still be available each day.  They are from 2:00 - 2:45.  If you have any questions or concerns about these changes, please feel free to email seegmillers@cusd305.org or call 217-543-2146.

What a great Friday we had at ALAH!  Our student council planned a great week to spice up our February and capped it off with our Winter Follies.  This tradition has been in place for over 30 years.  This year we had 9 acts appear on our stage and had 20 students win a seat in the gym to watch!  The rest of us joined the fun from our classrooms and screens.  The entire student body had the opportunity to vote for their favorite acts after the performances!  Our students are incredibly talented and it was fun to see them shine on stage! In between acts we were entertained by Jack Martin’s jokes.  He did a great job keeping us entertained while the rest of the student council helped set up for the next act.  We also want to give a big shout out to Mr. Davis and Mr. Smith for streaming our follies live.  It helped us all feel connected and together.  The Student Council provided prizes for the top three winners.  The first place prize was $20, second place won $15 and third place won $10,   The winner gets to sign the traveling trophy.

3rd place … Ashton Dick with a guitar solo
2nd place … Miah Mailin with a one person Peppa the Pig impersonation
1st place … The ‘Better Drumline’ doing cadences

This week FFA is celebrating National FFA Week with special activities.  We are excited to be finishing the month by highlighting this important organization in our school.

And finally, we would like to ask each of you to complete the 5 Essentials Survey. This survey is anonymous and provides our faculty and administration with feedback from families on a variety of areas for our school.  We use your responses to look at areas of strength and concerns and to guide our planning for the future. Your opinion matters!  The survey takes about 10 minutes for you to complete. To take the survey please visit https://survey.5-essentials.org/Illinois/ and enter your email address, enter Douglas county and select Arthur Lovington Atwood Hammond High School to begin. We are at 3%, in terms of participation so far, and really need your help!
