Hello Knight Family:

On Thursday the Knights kicked off volleyball season facing the Tuscola Warriors  Our Knight Shift section was filled with students cheering on their peers.  It brought so much joy to hear the students cheering, smell the popcorn and the icing on the cake was watching the Knights win!  If you are like me through this pandemic you have learned to cherish the moments that we all know could end quickly.

Speaking of taking in the moment and being proud, please know your students have been doing an amazing job managing being back at school with masks and fighting the heat!  Good grief it was a hot week. Your kids are awesome!  We continue to work to make sure masks are on and everyone stays 3 feet apart.  We want to keep everyone healthy and safe, provide in person instruction and to be able to keep having extra-curricular activities!

Next Friday we will run eligibility.  What does this mean?  A lot actually … this is a report that we run every Friday morning to check student’s grades.

  • If your student is an athlete, IHSA and District CUSD #305 requires students to be passing six classes in order to participate the following week.

  • Students passing all of their classes have open campus lunch privileges. (see ALAH HS Handbook page20)

  • Students that are earning a C or higher in all of their subjects are allowed to leave study hall at the end of the day. (see page 22 in the ALAH HS Handbook

  • If your student is not passing a class, you will receive an automatic phone call and an email or call from your student’s teacher.

Students and parents have the ability to check and monitor their grades at any time through Skyward.  If you are having  trouble accessing this information, please call the office at 217-543-2146 and we will help!

Today your student received a form for free dental services from Sarah Bush Lincoln and a form to sign your student up for our district’s optional COVID testing process.  Please read through these forms and return them signed to the high school office.  Here are the forms, in case your student has not shared these documents with you.  Sarah Bush Dental Services and Voluntary Consent COVID Testing

Tonight the football team kicks off their season as they travel to Downs and face Tri-Valley  Soccer has a home game tomorrow morning against Mt. Pulaski and cross-country is running tomorrow night in Clinton.  Our National Honor Society and Student Councils have been meeting already to plan more for our school and class meetings will be starting soon!  For only being two weeks into the school year, we are off and running at a fast pace!

And don’t forget ….

  • If your student would like a planner they are $3.50 in the office.

  • Knights Masks are also on sale in the office for $7.00

  • Order your Knight Gear here!

We are running the 1:15 p.m dismissal schedule on Monday and really hoping that the temperature cools down for the remainder of the week.
