ALAH Weekend Update

Hello Knight Family:

BIG NEWS BIG NEWS BIG NEWS …it is time for the big reveal for Homecoming 2021!  Homecoming week will be October 4th - 9th with our Homecoming Dance on Saturday, October 9th.  The excitement is building and an enormous amount of planning is happening behind the scenes.

Here are a few of the details:

The ALAH Student Council chose this year’s theme to be Decades

  • Senior Class - the 1970’s

  • Junior Class - the 80’s

  • Sophomore Class - the 50’s

  • Freshmen Class - the 60’s

We use these themes to decorate our hallways and our floats for the parade.  We will also have spirit days that are built into the week.  We are looking forward to seeing which class wins the spirit award this year. Stay tuned for specific details about the week.

Our Homecoming Dance will be held in the high school parking lot under a tent. This will allow us to follow the state guidelines and not be required to wear masks.  (Cross your fingers for good weather.)  Earlier this week our student body voted for attendants to represent their class and be on our Homecoming Court.  Congratulations to the 2021-22 homecoming attendants.

  • Freshman Class: Lilian Edwards and Maddix Stirrett
  • Sophomore Class: Lucy Wilber and Jayce Parsons
  • Junior Class: Reagan Bowles and Wyatt Hilligoss
  • Queen Candidates are: Delaney Gillis, Michaela Powell, Jordan Pratt and Kaitlyn Zander
  • King Candidates are: Quentin Day, Jace Green, Trey Wardrip, and Kade Herschberger

On a completely different and more serious note, I want you to be aware of a new TikTok challenge that is taking place in schools across the country.  'Devious Licks' is a social media challenge where students steal and damage items from schools, including toilets, soap dispensers, computers, and even COVID-19 tests. Unfortunately, this has reached us at ALAH and we are battling this problem.  Although this is just the most recent example in a long line of illegal or dangerous teenage social media challenges, I know it won’t be the last.  Please talk to your students about the fact that many of these social media challenges can be dangerous and, in this case, illegal and could have both short and long-term consequences. We tell students all the time that high school and their choices matter.  Decisions they make now do have an impact on their future.  We appreciate each of you working together with us on all things connected with our students.

A final “note”, we want to wish our Marching Knights good luck as they have their first competition tomorrow in Monticello!
