4th Grade Science

The 4th grade students and teachers would like to thank the District #305 Education Foundation for the opportunity to dissect owl pellets. We received a grant to cover the cost for every 4th grade student to have their own owl pellet to dissect and tweezers to help with dissection! The students love these hands on learning activities. This project allows the students to investigate the regurgitated, undigested parts of the owl's prey. They also discover how the unique digestive tract of the owl works. We had students find over 250 bones inside one pellet! They used a chart to identify what bones they found and even tried to reconstruct the animals.
