Weekly Wrap

Dear Knight Families,

2022-2023 School Registration

Registration for the 2022-2023 School Year will open up June 20. This can all be done online! If you need to come into the school to register office hours are from 9:00-3:00. Please call and set up an appointment at (217)578-2229. If you are moving over the summer please let the office know. Thank you!

PBIS: We are tying our 4th quarter goal into our building wide reading goal. Our goal is that 80% of our students will meet their individual reading goal for the year.  Students can earn individual reading awards based on the number of books they read. Each level comes with its own rewards! Pick up a good book and help us reach our goal! We are really close to reaching our goal! Our PBIS committee is working hard to plan a K-5  Field Day to celebrate. Our 6th-8th grade will participate in a Wiffle Ball Tournament for their celebration!

Currently, as a school,  we have read at 17,243 books.

Hippo Makes a Wish: Each year I look forward to the kindergarten performing "Hippo Makes a Wish." Mrs. Beck and Mrs. Hale work very hard with their students and they put on a great story theater! It is a play that has been done for many years! We always enjoy having siblings come watch and talk about when what part they played in the story! This week our students performed to a wonderful audience! Great job, Kindergarten!

8th Grade promotion:  Promotion  will be held on Thursday, May 26 at 6 pm. The promotion ceremony will be held at Wilson Field (the Football Field) at Arthur Lovington Atwood-Hammond High School. We will be sending more detailed information out the closer it gets. In the event of bad weather, our rain date will be Saturday, May 28 at 10:00 am.

Final Weekly Update:

For six years I have had the privilege and honor of serving as the principal of Atwood-Hammond Grade School. I have enjoyed becoming a part of the AHGS family and community. The teachers in this building are some of the most dedicated and compassionate educators I have ever met. They show up each day and work hard for their students. The families in this community have a strong pride and love for their school. My goal as an educator has always been to show up, work hard, and make a difference. I am proud to say that I see this happen every day at AHGS. There has not been one day in my six years here that I have seen students, parents, or teachers give up. No matter what life has thrown our way, we find a way to keep pushing forward.

As many of you know, this will be my last year as principal at Atwood-Hammond Grade School. I am excited to start a new adventure within the district and will continue working hard to make a difference in the lives of our students. I want to just take a moment and thank each and every one of you for being a part of my journey. I love this district and am so proud to continue to be a part of it.

It as truly been a pleasure to serve this school and this community!

Have a WONDERFUL SUMMER!
