ALAH Students Represent with Pride at Illinois Premier Boys State
Last week, four rising seniors from ALAH High School attended Illinois Premier Boys State—and according to counselors, they stood out as respectful, kind, and supportive young leaders who represented our school and community exceptionally well.
Boys State, hosted by the American Legion, is one of the most respected and selective programs in the country for high school students interested in government, leadership, and civic responsibility. Participants don’t just learn about government—they build it. From city councils to state assemblies, they campaign, legislate, and lead in a dynamic, hands-on environment. The experience includes political party meetings, elections, general assemblies, law enforcement presentations, recreational activities, and more.
The lessons learned and friendships made during the week often last a lifetime. We’re incredibly proud of these students for making the most of this opportunity and showing what it means to be a Knight.

Foods class completed a Hands On Appetizer Lab as their final.
Bacon-Ranch Cheeseball, Beef Street Tacos with Homemade Guacamole, Pigs in a Blanket, Stuffed Mushrooms and Cheese Dip were their choices. They tasted each others and the Beef Tacos proved to be the favorite.

ALAH teachers and athletic director were honored at the May school board meeting last week by two of their students. Family and Consumer Science Teacher Ginger Voegel was honored with the FCCLA "Spirit of Advising" award at the 2025 Illinois FCCLA State Leadership Conference. Social Studies Teacher Doug Davis was chosen as the VFW District 11 "Teacher of the Year". Athletic Director and Assistant Principal Nathan Seal was named the 2025 Division 5 Athletic Director of the Year by the Illinois Athletic Director Association during their annual conference. Congratulations!
