Dear Arthur CUSD #305 students and families,
We made it and I couldn’t be more proud of everyone for all that has been done to make sure our students were able to spend an entire semester in person! I’m so thankful and feel fortunate to have the opportunity to be surrounded with such dedicated educators and committed communities to make this past semester possible.
Listed below are the final numbers for the end of first semester.
Total number of students in the district: 1075
Number of in-person learners: 969
Number of full-time remote learners: 106
Total number of staff: 151
Number of students currently quarantined: 56
Number of students in quarantine due to positive test: 6
Number of staff in quarantine due to positive test: 2
Number of staff in quarantine due to close contact: 10
Number of positive in-person student cases (since the start of school): 48
Number of known positive staff cases (since the start of school): 12
It’s been mentioned before but is certainly worth mentioning again and that is how proud I am of everyone involved in making this semester possible. All of us have been asked to demonstrate a unique and increased level of flexibility, adaptability, cooperation, patience, grace, collaboration and compassion for others. Things haven’t always been smooth and there have been bumps in the road, but the level of support, cooperation and positivity that has been demonstrated has made those difficult transitions easier to navigate.
We are going to continue with the same schedule for the second semester until at least the end of February. We will be meeting with the Administration, Remote Learning Team as well as other leadership within the district throughout the months of January and February to determine if any changes will be made past the end of February. We will continue to communicate any changes and will do our best to keep everyone informed moving forward. We appreciate your patience and continued flexibility as the pandemic has forced us to occasionally create modifications that require all of us to adapt and create changes in our schedules.
I will close with a final extension of thanks and gratitude to all of you. It’s been a trying but also gratifying semester and I look forward to what next semester will bring. Although we cannot predict what that will look like I’m confident that with the dedication that the students, staff and communities continue to provide we will be able to overcome the obstacles that we may face. Thank you for a great semester and I hope you and your loved ones enjoy this holiday season.

The Junior High and Senior Class Fundraiser will be available for pickup next Wednesday and Thursday. This is a reminder that this Thursday, December 10 is a School Improvement Day with an earlier dismissal of 1:00 at the high school and 1:15 at the grade schools.
Please note that next Thursday and Friday, December 17th and 18th we will continue to dismiss at 1:17 pm for the high school and 1:30 for the grade schools instead of 2:00 that was posted on our original calendar.

Dear Arthur CUSD #305 students and families,
As we head into the Thanksgiving holiday break, I want to take a moment and send a message of thanks and gratitude.
In normal years, visiting classrooms, interacting with the students and teachers and witnessing all the good that is occurring has been wonderful. However, COVID-19 has shaken everyone’s world and the positives that are occurring in our district can easily be overshadowed by the monumental challenges we all face.
With all the challenges we have been faced with this school year, my message of thanks and gratitude is a little different this school year. I am so incredibly grateful for our teachers and support staff, who have adapted, reinvented, and modified how they operate and educate our students. I’m also grateful for the custodial and maintenance staff that have provided unselfish service to keep all of us safe and in person. Thank you to the cafeteria staff that have enhanced their safety protocols to ensure that our students are fed throughout the semester. To the parents, a special thank you for your adaptability, patience, grace and positivity throughout all of these challenges we have encountered since the end of last March. I also send a deep appreciation and thank you to the Administration in the district for their sacrifices, flexibility and unwavering dedication to providing the safest and most supportive environment for our staff and students throughout this pandemic. Finally, a huge shout out and thank you to our wonderful students. They have had to endure so many challenges and changes since last Spring and they have continued to adapt and in many cases thrive in the new learning environments created for them. I’m blessed to be able to serve them as their Superintendent.
Although things haven’t been perfect, I’m proud of all of our communities for the patience, grace and dedication to the schools that have been demonstrated since the beginning of this challenging pandemic. I wish you all a restful, peaceful and safe Thanksgiving and look forward to what our amazing district accomplishes moving forward.
I hope each of you can find gratitude and something you are thankful for this holiday season. Have a Happy Thanksgiving.
