Beginning Monday, December 8th, our AHGS Student Council will kick off Penny Wars & Ainsley’s Birthday Bag Donations as a school-wide service project. All funds and donations will support Ainsley’s Birthday Bags, a local nonprofit that provides birthday bags for children in need. A birthday bag includes cake, icing, a candle, decorations, and a gift. Birthday bags are distributed monthly at the Eastern Illinois Food Bank, hosted at the First Baptist Church of Atwood.
The class that brings in the most birthday bag items will win a donut party, and the class that wins Penny Wars will celebrate with a pizza party! Thank you for supporting this meaningful cause!

Today’s library class came with a special surprise, our wonderful librarian showed up dressed as a turkey to celebrate the season and bring smiles to our students! We are so thankful for staff who make learning fun.

The K-2 teachers weren’t able to join in on the fun on Friday, but they showed up today covered in all the tattoos their students picked out, and they look amazing!
Thank you to our K–2 team for jumping in and making the Tat-A-Teacher fundraiser even more fun.

Our students had the opportunity to attend the Illini Women’s Basketball game, and for many of them, it was their very first time inside the State Farm Center! This made the experience even more exciting and memorable.
They were part of a crowd of over 14,000 students cheering on the Illini in an incredible atmosphere full of energy and school spirit.
We are proud of our 5th graders for representing AHGS so well!

Small things matter. Today didn’t go the way we hoped on the field, but we’re incredibly proud of our students. After the game, there was no trash left on the ground in the student section—everything was placed in the trash cans where it belonged.
It might seem like a small thing, but taking pride in our space and leaving it looking great is huge. Proud of our students on and off the field today. #GoKnights

Thank you to everyone who supported our Tat a Teacher fundraiser for the Sunshine Committee!
