Hello Knight Family:
Traditions at Arthur Lovington Atwood Hammond High School happen throughout the year. Homecoming, graduation, and the senior trip are just a few. This afternoon our Student Council sponsored another long standing tradition, Winter Follies. Students sign up as groups or individuals to share a talent in front of the student body. We have everything from singing, dancing and even some improv! This year we also brought back our FFA sponsored Ag Olympics to celebrate National FFA Week. It has been a fun Friday afternoon to mark the final Friday of February. Bring on March!
On Tuesday, March 5th our juniors will be taking the Illinois Science Assessment. The State of Illinois requires all juniors to take this science assessment. The test will take about three hours and then the juniors will have an hour-long lunch.
Also on Tuesday, March 5th, in the afternoon we will have an all school assembly led by Tim Ryan who is recognized as A&E's “Dope Man” and a substance abuse interventionist. He will be joined by Jennifer Gimenez-Ryan, a world-renowned model, actress, substance abuse counselor, and reality TV star. They will share their personal experiences and insights on substance abuse and recovery with our student body. There is also a presentation for parents on Tuesday evening at 6 p.m at Monticello High School. The public is invited to attend!
