Hello Knight Family:
We’ve had a great week at school, and it’s been wonderful to see our students continuing to grow, learn, and get involved. Whether in the classroom, in activities, or on the field, their energy and efforts are making a positive impact on our school community. Thank you for all you do at home to support them—it truly makes a difference.
Research shows that when parents are actively involved in their children’s education, students demonstrate higher academic achievement, stronger engagement, and greater motivation. Consistent attendance is one of the most important ways to support this success. Being at school every day helps students stay connected, keep up with coursework, and build the habits that will serve them well beyond high school. Alongside attendance, I want to remind families about eligibility and grades. Regularly checking grades, monitoring assignments, and encouraging strong study habits helps ensure students remain on track academically and eligible for extracurricular activities. Together, we can help every student succeed.
Speaking of academic achievement and eligibility, students must be passing all of their classes to earn the privilege of open campus lunch. In addition, students must maintain a C or higher in every class and be present for a full day in order to leave study hall the following day. A “full day” is defined as being absent for two class periods or less. (For example, a student must be present all day on Friday to be excused from study hall on Monday.) Eligibility runs every Friday (or last day of the week) at 10 AM. The eligibility list is in place for the following week, even if grades go up.
Study hall offers many opportunities for students. It’s a great time to join a club or extra-curricular activity, visit the math or writing center for help with assignments, or simply stay in study hall to get homework done. Students who are waiting for a shuttle or practice are also welcome to spend time in the cafeteria, where they may use their phones, play games, or just hang out with friends. There will also be times when students are required to stay for class meetings. Many of our clubs meet during study hall as well. Students may access meeting schedules through the study hall calendar bookmark on their chromebooks. We are trying to help everyone stay organized and plan!
On Tuesday, we will hold a full-school assembly during study hall to kick off our all-school fundraiser, selling discount cards. The money raised goes directly into each student’s senior trip account. More details will be shared with families next week.
As we head into the long weekend, we hope you will cheer on our Knights! Everything from Cross-Country to Marching Band to Volleyball and of course our football team have events this week!
