Hello Knight Family:

It has finally arrived—one of our great traditions, Homecoming Week!  Very soon our hallways will be decorated, floats will be built, the bonfire will be lit, cheers will rise for the Knights, and everything will culminate with the dance.  This year’s theme is Broadway.  As Hamilton reminds us, “This is not a moment, it’s the movement” — and we can’t wait to see our students’ creativity shine.

Here are a few important reminders to help the week run smoothly:

Schedules & Activities

  • We will run a full schedule of classes, but flex and study hall will be combined and moved to the end of the day so all students have time to help with float building and other activities. (See schedule below.)

  • Study hall is mandatory for all students next week.

  • Hallway decorating takes place on Sunday.  Of course this is optional.  Each class sets their hours and pizza/soda are provided around lunch time. It is a unique time for our students to be in the building and not focusing on their academics.

  • Quiet/study rooms will be available in the afternoons for students who prefer to focus on homework or opt out of activities.

  • Students who are failing a class will continue to have closed campus lunch, except on Friday.

  • There are class competitions each day next week, one of which includes dress up days.  Those themed days are listed on the calendar.

Friday—Homecoming Day!

  • Friday will be a full day of events, including games, the pep rally, and of course, the parade. (See schedule below.)

  • If your student is not in the parade and you’d like to check them out early, please call the office to make arrangements.

Permission Slips & Dance Information

  • Guest permission slips are due in the office by Wednesday.

  • ALAH student permission slips are due in the office by Friday morning at 8:30 a.m.

  • At the dance, students will sign in and out using a QR code. When they check in or out, their primary guardian will automatically receive an email with the time stamp. We hope this helps keep communication clear and simple.

As Wicked reminds us, “Because I knew you, I have been changed for good.” We hope next week creates memories that change our students’ high school experience for the better.

In other important news, we want to remind families that ALAH High School has a student food pantry available on campus. Students may access the pantry through a link posted in their daily announcements or by asking a teacher for permission to shop. We are fortunate to have this valuable resource, made possible through a grant from the Eastern Illinois Food Bank. If your student could benefit from this support, please encourage them to take advantage of it.

And a final shout out to the golf team! Our girls finished 2nd in the conference and the boys won the conference for the 7th straight year!  Regions begin next week with both the boys and the girls playing in Moweaqua in the 1A division!

Thank you for your support in making Homecoming Week a great week!  In the words of Mamma Mia!—“Here we go again!”

Have a great weekend!

Mrs. Seegmiller
