Hello Knight Family: 

Welcome to 2026—we have started the year big! During our first week back, we packed in basketball games, scholastic bowl meets, hosted freshman orientation to officially welcome the Class of 2030, and wrapped things up with our 3rd Annual Corn Bowl. Today’s highlights during the Corn Bowl included the Whitney Challenge, a drum-off, shoot-outs, and—of course—varsity girls’ and boys’ basketball games. It’s been an energetic and fun start to the year at ALAH!

Next week, we’ll return to our regular routines, which I think everyone is looking forward to. Coming soon, you’ll receive a couple of surveys where we truly appreciate your input. The first will be a questionnaire regarding your student’s transportation needs for next year while we are housed at Lovington Grade School. Next month, you will also receive the 5Essentials Survey, which provides an opportunity to share anonymous feedback related to our high school, including education, safety, and communication. We hope you’ll take a few moments to participate in both.

If you are the parent of a sophomore or senior, you should have received an email this week regarding the Illinois Youth Survey, which will be administered later this month. This anonymous and confidential survey gathers information from students across the state about protective behaviors that support student success. Some questions may address sensitive topics such as substance use, bullying, dating violence, school climate, and screen time. The information collected helps communities develop programs and strategies to prevent youth problem behaviors and strengthen youth development.
