Dear Knight Families,
The countdown is on! In less than one week, we'll welcome students back for another school year. While this year will look a little different, one thing hasn't changed—we can't wait to see our students filling the halls again. New Address. Same Knights. Same Mission.
One thing I'd like every family to remember is that this is A New Beginning...for All of Us
This is new for all of us … students, teachers, administrators, and staff. We're all learning together.
That's why we've intentionally designed our first day to help everyone get comfortable before classes officially begin. Students will participate in a shortened walk-through of every class on their schedule, allowing them to find each classroom, meet each teacher, and learn the building without the pressure of being late. In fact, there will be no tardies the first week of school!
Students will also notice staff members stationed throughout the building, ready to answer questions, point students in the right direction, and make sure everyone feels welcome. By the end of the day, we're confident students will feel right at home.
Our goal is simple: start the year with confidence, laughter, and plenty of Knight spirit.
First Day Highlights
Our first day will be filled with opportunities to build relationships, learn expectations, and simply enjoy being together again.
Students will participate in:
A welcome breakfast and opening activities.
An all-school assembly.
A walk-through of every class period to meet teachers and learn the building (with no tardies).
Class games and team-building activities.
Complimentary Sno-Cones from Joe's Sno Shack, generously sponsored by the Lovington Community to give us a warm welcome to town!
School-wide competitions to kick off the year.
We'll also enjoy one large lunch period together. Students may choose the regular school lunch served in the cafeteria (think nachos, hot dogs, and all the works) or purchase lunch from one of the food trucks that will be on campus. We hope this gives everyone a chance to relax, reconnect with friends, and enjoy a fun start to the year.
A Few Reminders
Shuttle bus times to ride to high school for Arthur Grade School and AHGS will be 7:45 - 7:50 a.m. to come to high school.
School begins at 8:15 a.m.
Students driving to school may park in student parking alongside the baseball fields or behind the staff parking lot. We will have faculty helping direct traffic! Parking spaces will be assigned during the first week of school.
Students may bring water in a clear, closed container. Every student will also receive a new clear water bottle on the first day of school!
Chromebooks will be handed out during first hour. If you took your chromebook home over the summer, it’s time to get it charged!
You're Invited!
If you're curious to see how we've transformed an elementary school into a high school (at least for this year), we'd love to have you join us for our Open House on Friday, August 14, from 5:00–6:00 p.m. Then you can head to Wilson Field in Arthur for the Red & Gold Scrimmage!
Parents, families, and community members are invited to walk through the building, meet teachers, and experience our temporary home firsthand. It's amazing what our staff has accomplished in just a few short weeks, and we'd love to show you around.
Thank you for your continued support, flexibility, and encouragement as we begin this unique chapter in ALAH High School history. There will undoubtedly be a few bumps along the way, but there will also be plenty of memories made. Together, we'll make this temporary building feel like home.
We can't wait to welcome everyone back on August 12.
Mrs. Seegmiller
