Dear Knight Families,
And just like that…Week 2 is done! We’re settling into our new routine and adding plenty of activities for the Knights. This week’s email is packed with important information, along with a few opportunities for students to get involved. Study hall, lunch prices, Bass Fishing, Drama Club…we’ve got a little bit of everything! Please let us know what you need.
Students have the opportunity to leave during 8th-hour study hall if they meet the criteria below. Keep in mind that leaving study hall is a privilege, not a requirement, and there may be times when a student is asked to stay for a meeting, make-up work, or another school-related activity. Also know that students who meet the criteria do not have to leave study hall. They are welcome to stay in their assigned classroom or head to the cafeteria to hang out.
Here’s what you need to know:
All grades must be a C (70%) or higher to earn the privilege of leaving study hall. If you have a D or F in any class, you must attend your assigned study hall.
Your eligibility is checked Friday morning for the following week. Once eligibility is determined, it stays in effect for the entire following week - even if your grades improve.
Attendance matters! You must attend a full school day to earn the privilege of leaving study hall the next day. A full day means no more than two class periods absent.
Absent more than two periods? You’ll attend study hall the next school day. If you miss two full days, you’ll attend study hall for the next two days.
The goal is simple: Keep your grades up, be here, and use study hall time wisely!
We are extremely fortunate to have a kitchen crew that works hard every day to provide breakfast and lunch for our students! Brittany, Dayna, Chris, and Sherry go above and beyond to keep things running, and with our new closed-campus lunch, they are working even harder (and faster!) to make it all happen. We truly appreciate everything they do for our students!
Below, I’ve included the menu prices set by Aramark. Please make sure your student has money in their lunch account before purchasing items. You can add money by sending cash or a check to the office with your student or by paying directly through the Skyward app.

Did you know that research consistently shows that students who are involved in extracurricular activities have better attendance, stronger grades, and a greater connection to their school. But honestly, the best part is seeing students find something they enjoy or being part of a team or group. We have two great opportunities getting started right now: Bass Fishing and Drama Club!
There is a parent/student meeting for the Bass Fishing Team on Tuesday, so if your student is interested, be sure to check out the details below. Drama Club is also getting ready for Little Women, and there are opportunities for students to audition for acting roles, as well as help with directing and crew. You don’t have to be on stage to be part of the show! (Info is in your student’s email!)
And finally, we have started the voting for Homecoming. Homecoming Week is September 20th - 26th. Student Council chose the theme Board Games. Stay tuned for more information.
Our Knights are on the move this weekend. Our Marching Knights, Cheerleaders and football team will be at Wilson Field tonight as we face the Villa Grove Blue Devils. The Marching Knights and Cheer Team will also be in the Apple Dumpling Festival Parade tomorrow at 2 p.m. in Atwood! Next week adds more golf, cross country, soccer and volleyball matches to our calendars! It’s a great year to be a Knight!
