Dear Knight Families,
We have another busy week ahead, and there is a lot happening both in and out of the classroom! As we move through the second half of the semester, we have important opportunities for learning, connecting with teachers, and cheering on our Knights. Here are a few updates and reminders to keep on your radar!
On Monday, we will conduct our active intruder drill with law enforcement present. Unfortunately, in today’s world, this is one of the most important drills we practice. The safety and security of our students is always our top priority. Students and staff will work through different scenarios to practice making decisions about locking down, communicating information, and evacuating when it is safe to do so. There will be no live simulations, no firearms, and no simulations intended to mimic an actual school shooting or active shooter event. Parents and guardians may exempt their student from participating in the walk-through drill by contacting the high school office at 217-543-2146 or emailing Mrs. Seegmiller at seegmillers@cusd305.org. Our goal is to ensure that students and staff understand their options and feel prepared to make informed decisions in an emergency.
We had scheduled a practice ACT test for our juniors on Wednesday, but unfortunately, we needed to postpone it. The test will now take place on Wednesday, October 28. This practice test is for the entire junior class.
Parent-teacher conferences are NEXT WEEK! If you haven’t signed up yet, there is still time. You can click the tile in your student’s Skyward account to schedule an appointment, or call the high school office. Mrs. Redfern or Ms. Franklin will be happy to help you find a time. Conferences are a great opportunity to hear directly from your student’s teachers, ask questions, and get a better picture of what is happening in the classroom. Yes, even though your student is in high school, parent teacher conferences are valuable for teachers and families.
Have you been keeping up with Knight athletics? Our Knights are on a roll! They continue to make us proud, and there is plenty to celebrate! Volleyball is putting together a record-setting season with 30 wins, while soccer heads into regionals at Unity next week after a record setting regular season with 12 wins, 5 losses, and 1 tie. Both our girls and boys cross country teams placed second in the LPC conference last week, and they wrap up their regular season this week in Peoria before beginning regional competition on October 24. The Marching Knights head to Newton on October 24 for their biggest competition of the year, and our football team plays for the LPC Conference Championship tomorrow—Saturday at 1:00 p.m.—against Fisher!
It is an exciting time to be a Knight! Thank you for continuing to support our students, staff, and activities. Whether you are attending a conference, cheering from the sidelines, or helping your student stay on track in the classroom, your partnership makes a difference.
Have a great weekend, and as always, #GoKnights!
Mrs. Seegmiller
