Good Afternoon Knight Families:

We are in the final stretch of our first semester with only a few days left until our final exams. Semester exams are an opportunity for students to demonstrate what they have learned throughout the semester.  Teachers utilize this information to evaluate their course and plan for future semesters.  We have decided to make our final exams optional this semester.  This decision was made for several reasons, but one of the most important was to ease the stress on all of our students during these challenging COVID times.   Here are the highlights of our plan:

FINAL EXAMS

  • Final Exams will be optional.
  • Students may choose to take final exams if they are trying to improve their grade.
  • A student's semester grade cannot be negatively impacted by choosing to take a final exam.
  • Students are encouraged to talk with teachers about how the exam can affect your grade.
  • Dual credit classes have their own guidelines that still apply.
  • Attendance is mandatory for all students on final exam days except seniors that earned the SAT award.
  • Teachers may still give assessments during the two exam days.  These will count towards student second quarter grades.  Students should work with their teachers to decide what is best for them.
  • IF students take exams, grades will be 40% for the first quarter, 40% for the second quarter and 20% for the final exam.  IF students do not take a final exam, grades will be 50% for first quarter and 50% for second quarter.
  • Students must decide by the end of class on Wednesday, December 16th, if they are going to take the exam.
  • Students will be allowed to leave after their 7th hour final on Friday. We will show a movie in the gyms at the end of the day for students that need to ride the shuttle/bus.
  • More information may be found here: Final Exam Information - December 2020.  Please call or email Mr. Seal or myself in the office if you have any questions or concerns about all of this.
