Weekend Update Logo

Hello Knight Families:

What a beautiful Spring Friday afternoon!  It feels and looks like spring except we are playing football and volleyball.  Go figure!

Next week is a BIG week for most of our students.  Tuesday, April 13th is the SAT test. You should have received an email earlier this week with details for your student and the highlights are below.

Seniors are not attending school.  Yes, you read it correctly, they have Tuesday, April 13th off.  This would be a great time to complete service hours, scholarship applications, FASFA paperwork, etc.  (Parents don’t forget completing the FASFA is now a state graduation requirement.)

Juniors, THIS IS THE BIG DAY! Testing starts at 8 AM. You will finish around 12:30. Juniors may leave for the day when they are finished. Lunch is available after the test.

Freshmen and Sophomores, your testing starts at 8 AM as well. When you finish your testing, you will have a 45 minute lunch period and then go to your 8th hour study hall for an easy afternoon of activities.

Yes, your attendance is required in the afternoon.

Please encourage your student to get a good night’s sleep and eat breakfast (FREE AT SCHOOL for every student). Tuesday is scrambled eggs and sausage. Extra items are just 75 cents! Although most students do not love testing day, it is a great opportunity for students to show us what they have learned.  We use the results to plan our future classes.

The Douglas County Health Department has shared that they have a Saturday clinic planned for April 17 in Tuscola that tentatively has some Pfizer vaccines.  (This is assuming the allocated supply is received.)  This would be an option for your student that is 16 or 17 years old.   The link for this will be posted today at 4:30 on their website. Students must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

The fourth quarter mid-term is Friday, April 16th!  With the year coming to a close, there are many opportunities for your student to think about for next year.  Sign ups for cheerleading tryouts are in the office, student council elections will be coming soon along with tryouts for color guard to just name a few!

One final note about sports … our soccer team beat Effingham St. Anthony Monday night! And we want to wish our football Knights good luck as they face Arcola tonight and the volleyball Knights as they face Shelbyville tomorrow morning. By the way, our cheerleaders have rocked it this semester.  They have been cheering on boys basketball, girls basketball and now our football team!  This squad is a game changer for our Knights.  We are lucky to have them on the sidelines.
