ALAH Weekend Update Logo

Hello Knight Family:

Welcome back to the routine of school and a new year!  We are off and running with our regular schedules and activities.  Even some of our spring activities are picking up steam with practices and meetings.  The play, softball, track to just name a few.  There are very few quiet moments at ALAH HS!

Parents of the Class of 2022, it is scholarship season and Mrs. Hart is holding a Scholarship Workshop on Friday, January 14th during our flex period.  During this meeting, she will show students how to access the scholarships, explain our process, discuss best practices, and give some insider tips. All seniors have an email with more specific information. Also, parents, please take the time to complete the FASFA form.  This is a state graduation requirement for all seniors.  You are welcome to call or email Mrs. Hart at harta@cusd305.org for more information or any help you might need.

Parents of the Class of 2023, we are less than 14 weeks away from the SAT test!  Our juniors are working hard in their flex classes preparing for this assessment.  Please encourage your students to work hard and give their best during this time.  The faculty are helping them feel as prepared and confident as possible.  The test date is April 13th.

If you have a current freshmen, sophomore or junior, Mrs. Hart will begin meeting with students next week to sign up for their classes for the 2022-2023 school year.  This process will run through the middle of February.  Check with your student about what exciting opportunities they have to choose from!  For example … juniors and seniors have CEO and dual credit opportunities.  There is a music appreciation class, foundations to teaching for students interested in going into education, an advanced ag mech class, drafting, and photography options for all students.  And, our seniors have everything from the chance to earn their CNA to auto tech classes to a new Advanced Placement Psychology class.  We are constantly working to have not only the best opportunities for our students, but a wide variety of opportunities, so that there is something for everyone.

A reminder for all parents that study hall is mandatory for all ALAH students the first three weeks of the semester.  This means ... all of us will be in study hall until Friday, January 21st. (See page 22 of the high school handbook if you have questions) Beginning on Monday, January 23, students who are earning a C average or higher, may leave school.  Students may be required to meet with a teacher to  make up a test or work, get extra help or attend a class/club meeting.  Please call the office if you have any questions or concerns about any of this.

Report cards, report cards, report cards!  It isn’t like the ‘old days’, that is for sure!  First semester grades were finalized this afternoon.  This includes your student’s first semester grades (made up of the entire semester and their final exam) GPA and class rank. You and your student will be able to see all of this in your Skyward account.

The pep band is playing tonight at our home basketball game!  We would love to have you come and cheer on the Knights as we face the Heritage Hawks. The FFA popcorn has never tasted better!

On Wednesday, January 12, we want to invite you, your students and all community members to join us for the final U-Knight 305 Community Engagement Meeting from 6 p.m. to 8 pm in the old gym.  We are looking for your input/opinion on a facilities study that has been happening.  There has never been a more important or easier time for you to share what you think.  We really want to hear your thoughts! I promise it is easy … we need your help!

And one final note before ending, I just wanted to share how thankful and appreciative I am for all of our faculty and staff.  They have worked so hard to keep our school running.  Many have covered classes, run copies, helped with remote learning logistics, answering phone calls and questions, delivered materials and just worked hard. A huge shout out for the continued dedication for our ALAH Faculty and Staff.  They are truly bar none!

Have a great week …stay healthy and warm.

Mrs. Seegmiller
