ALAH Weekend Update

Hello Knight Family:

We were certainly excited to welcome students back to school this week!

This week we finished up business from the first semester by finalizing grades and this afternoon we posted report cards in Skyward.  This includes your student’s first semester grades (made up of the entire semester and their final exam) GPA and class rank. You and your student will be able to see all of this in your Skyward accounts.

A reminder for all parents that study hall is mandatory for all ALAH students the first three weeks of the semester.  This means your student will be in study hall until at least Friday, January 27th. (See the high school handbook if you have questions) Beginning on Monday, January 30, students who are earning a C average or higher, may leave school.  Students may be required to meet with a teacher to  make up a test or work, get extra help or attend a class/club meeting.  Please call the office if you have any questions or concerns about any of this.

Are you looking for a conversation starter with your student?  What do you know about patriots? Next week our student body will be writing an essay for the American Legion.  This is a statewide contest and the topic is “Who Are Our Modern Day Patriots?”  Most of our students will be working on these essays during our flex period and our juniors will be tackling it during their English classes.  All of our students will be editing their essays in English the following week before being submitted.  Students who win at the local level will be eligible to win scholarships at the state level.

We have a lost and found table on the second floor. Encourage your student to stop by and take a look at our collection. You wouldn’t believe what is left behind in our halls.

We have an early dismissal on Thursday this week for a scheduled School Improvement meeting. The high school dismisses at 1:00.

And finally there is a district survey looking for your opinion regarding the district and facilities. The survey may be taken online at research.net/r/CUSD305survey, by scanning the QR code on the flier that you received in the mail, or come by the office to grab a paper copy.  We are looking for everyone’s opinions!
