Hey ALAH Knights,
We are inviting you and your families to spend a Knight with us under the stars! Mrs. Seal, Mrs. Fitzgerald, Mr. Martin, and Mr. Allen invite you all to LGS Astronomy Knight 2025 on Monday, October 6th, 2025, from 7:00 – 8:00 PM. Bring a blanket, lawn chair, binoculars, or a telescope, if you have one! If you don’t, that is OK, just bring you! There will be a couple of telescopes and binoculars that you can look through.
Weather permitting, we will spend time lying back on the grass and watching the stars! There is a LOT more going on up there than you think! You can see a lot just by lying back and looking at the night sky! You can see the entire universe, and that’s a BIG place! Meteors, comets, the moon, and all the planets, stars, constellations, galaxies, and much more! You can also see satellites, planes, and sometimes you can see space ships, like the International Space Station!
Please do not bring white light flashlights. We will have red light flashlights to see by. Once the sun sets, our eyes will slowly adjust to night vision, red light does not interfere with night vision, but white light does. We plan on being on the soccer field where it will hopefully be darkest, so we can see as much as possible! There will be a full moon, called The Hunter’s Moon. This year it is also called the Harvest Moon, so there will be plenty of light to see.
In the event of inclement weather, we will try for the next night, Tuesday, October 7th.
